Joel Speranza has taught high school math, science, digital technology and accounting and is passionate about leveraging technology to get the most out of class time. Recently he was nominated for Queensland teacher of the year and was recognised as a Queensland digital champion for his work educating teachers in digital technology.
As well as being a teacher, Joel is also technology coach at his school in Brisbane, Australia and finds the dual role of teaching students and training teachers to be incredibly rewarding.
“My educational philosophy is really for both students and teachers to spend as little time in the delivery of content as possible. Leveraging technology, particularly with regards to flipped classrooms, allows me to achieve that. Students spend lessons actively engaging in the process of learning. My classrooms changed so much since flipping that I’ve become a massive advocate for flipped learning.”
